Van Drew Celebrates Major Victory as Atlantic Shores Pulls Offshore Wind Project

June 10, 2025 — Congressman Van Drew released the following statement after Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind filed a petition with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities requesting to terminate its project off the coast of New Jersey.

“This is a huge win for South Jersey,” said Congressman Van Drew. “For years, we have been fighting to protect our coastline, our economy, and our communities from these reckless offshore wind projects. Atlantic Shores stepping away means there will be no wind farms built off the coast of Southern New Jersey and that is exactly the outcome we have been fighting for. Just because we have secured this victory does not mean the fight is over. I remain deeply concerned about the Empire Wind project moving forward in New York, and I recently sent a letter to the Department of Interior urging them to reconsider that decision. But today, South Jersey can breathe a little easier.”
