Van Drew: “Something is terribly wrong when the Government can audit us, but we can’t audit the Government!”

February 11, 2025 — United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew released the following statement in response to the absolutely hysterical attacks on President Trump and House Republicans’ efforts to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in the Federal Government through the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“Something is terribly wrong when the Government can audit us, but we can’t audit the Government,” said United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R-South Jersey). “Every dollar wasted in Washington is one less dollar that can go towards cutting taxes for hard working middle class families, strengthening Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for our seniors and most vulnerable Americans, as well as to support our military and veterans once they come home.”

“DOGE has already uncovered that the Biden Administration had been diverting funds from virtually every part of the federal government, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Social Security, to cover the costs of providing taxpayer funded benefits to illegal immigrants,” added Van Drew. “Instead of fighting like hell to stop President Trump and his team from auditing federal spending and streamlining the bureaucracy in Washington, it’s time for Democrats in Congress to stop spreading misinformation, put the baseless and completely hysterical political attacks aside, and work with us to implement the hundreds of billions in savings that DOGE is on pace to identify that will ultimately require Congressional action.”
