Trump & Van Drew Dominate Ocean, Cape May, & Salem Counties

November 13, 2024 — United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew’s campaign released the following statement on unofficial results showing Congressman Van Drew and President Trump, not only won in areas Biden carried four years ago, but received absolutely dominant margins of victory all across Ocean, Cape May, and Salem Counties which backed Trump in 2016 as well as in 2020.

“Congressman Van Drew and President Trump not only flipped three counties Biden carried in 2020 (Atlantic, Cumberland, & Gloucester), but won a jaw dropping 94% and 92% respectively of voting precincts across the district’s three historically Republican counties (Ocean, Cape May, & Salem),” said Van Drew’s Campaign Manager Ron Filan. “New Jersey’s Second Congressional District is actually larger than the entire state of Delaware making it the most politically and geographically diverse in the state so for Congressman Van Drew and President Trump to carry that many communities (234 & 228 of 249 precincts) across these three counties shows that here in South Jersey their grassroots support runs as deep as it does wide.”

Note: Van Drew won all 79 voting precincts in the Ocean County portions of the district while President Trump carried 77. In Cape May County, Van Drew carried 120 and Trump 116 of the county’s 127 precincts. Van Drew and Trump both won 35 of SalemCounty’s 43 precincts.

Additionally, Van Drew carried Ocean County by 34%, Cape May County by 27% and Salem County by 23% this year, up from 25%, 22%, and 12% in 2020. President Trump carried Cape May County by 19% and Salem County by 20% up from 16% and 13% four years ago. While the Ocean County results are not yet readily available by Congressional District, President Trump increased his margin countywide from 29% in 2020 to 36% in 2024.
