Van Drew Unequivocally Stands Against Cuts to Social Security

March 21, 2024 — Congressman Van Drew released a statement guaranteeing that he will never support any proposal by any party that would make cuts to Social Security or raise the retirement age. Social Security protects the financial well-being of millions of Americans, and any threat to this program is a threat to the foundation of our nation.

“Any proposed cuts to Social Security, no matter who they are coming from, are not only unjust but they are a betrayal of the countless hardworking Americans who have paid their way into this program,” said Congressman Van Drew. “Our senior citizens should not suffer because of this administration’s inability to put America first. If we stopped using taxpayer dollars to fund foreign wars, to fund programs for illegal immigrants, and to subsidize foreign energy companies, we would not be facing the budgetary constraints that we are today. The answer is NOT cutting funding for a program that so many Americans rely on.“I want to make it very clear: I outright reject any proposed cuts to Social Security, regardless of who proposes these cuts, and I will always be an advocate for our country’s most vulnerable population. We have to put our American seniors first and I will continue to do everything in my power to ensure we honor the commitment we made to them.”
