VAN DREW BLASTS SECRETARY MAYORKAS FOR HIS COMPLETE HYPOCRISY IN CREATING A “DISINFORMATION BOARD”

May 10, 2022 — Congressman Van Drew sent Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas a letter expressing his complete disgust with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) decision to create a “Disinformation Governance Board.” 

“Secretary Mayorkas has continually failed to protect our border and constantly lies to the American people, yet believes that the DHS should allocate its resources, not to secure our border, but dedicated to censoring the American people,” said Congressman Van Drew. “This ‘Board’ should be monitoring this Administration and its constant lies to the American people. Is this Board going to censor President Biden for the lies about Afghanistan, or the lies about Hunter Biden’s dealings with our adversaries? Secretary Mayorkas needs to get in touch with reality and do his job to secure our southern border and ensure the safety of the American people.”

“Last week, in the House Judiciary Committee, Secretary Mayorkas failed to answer whether or not he knew if any of the forty-two people on the terrorist watch list, encountered at our southern border, are now somewhere in the United States,” added Congressman Van Drew. “It is unacceptable that the person in charge of our Homeland Security is unable to answer a question that potentially puts Americans and our national security at risk. Now is not the time to create Boards to censor free speech, it is time to secure our border.”
